The County Office of Neighborhood Relations has created Hurricane kits
They contain a Have a Plan - Know Your Plan insert card with a magnet
that has a space you can write your evacuation level on, a hurricane
how-to shopping list to stock up little by little all season, and a
pamphlet with instructions on what to do, where the zones are, emergency
phone numbers, tips, etc. All of this is in a (reusable) zip-lock bag.
These will be distributed door-to-door over the next couple of weeks.

Where To Go With Pets
If Hillsborough County emergency officials call for an evacuation, pet owners should not leave their pets at home to fend for themselves. The stress of a storm can pose a danger to their pet’s health, and to those who respond in the wake of a disaster. Rescue workers may then encounter a scared and injured pet. Arrange pet accommodations now with Friends and family outside of the storm surge area.Veterinarians and boarding facilities outside of the storm surge area, and along your evacuation route, if possible. Pet-friendly hotels and lodging. Ask about rates and security deposits. Public shelters are not a resort - your last resort! Hillsborough County currently as two approved public pet-friendly evacuation shelters:
Sickles High School, 7950 Gunn Highway, Tampa
Burnett Middle School, 1010 N. Kingsway, Seffner
Space is extremely limited at these public shelters. Advance reservations are not accepted, and pet drop-offs are not permitted. Residents taking shelter on-site may also shelter their pets on a first-come/first-served basis. Snakes and other poisonous creatures will not be allowed at public shelters
While the sun is shining, gather pet supplies and update vaccinations. Construct a pet identification kit to include a photo of the pet and its owner together, contact information for the owner and other family members and any special care instructions for the pet. Talk to your family veterinarian about micro-chipping and its benefits. Have the following items prepared in the event of an emergency.
Proof of current rabies shots, which is required at all public and private shelters. In addition, include micro-chip paperwork in all official pet records. Securely fasten pet identification to your pet and its carrier. A sturdy carrier that is large enough for each animal to stand up and turn around inside. Leashes, collars, muzzles, and a minimum three-day supply per pet of food, water, medicine, comfort items, and materials for waste removal.
