The meeting was called to order by Carol at 7:12 p.m.
Secretary's Report – The minutes of the November 2006 meeting were read by Trustees in advance. Al made a motion, seconded by Penny, to approve the minutes. The motion was approved by a vote of 5-0.
Treasurer's Report – Copies of the Statement of Revenues and Expenditures for November 2006 were distributed. Cash in Bank: $7,630.06 Available to Spend: $5,130.00
Carol pointed out that the beginning fund balance for the new fiscal year is $8,335.00. She solicited recommendations for how the significant carry over of funds could be effectively spent. Cleaning and/or painting of the Gunn Hwy. and Casey Rd. walls and replacement of the light fixtures at both entrances were recommended. If the money cannot be spent, the Board may need to consider reducing the ad valorem tax for next fiscal year.
Old Business
There was no old business.
New Business
Electrical Outlet at Entrance - Mr. Olafsson, a resident of Beacon Meadows and an electrician with Falcon Electric, replaced one of the outlets at the Gunn Hwy. entrance free of charge. Without this repair, the holiday lights would not work. Trustees expressed their appreciation to Mr. Olafsson.
Holiday Wreaths and Lights at Entrances – Both entrances were decorated on December 3, 2006. Several old strings of lights did not work so several new strings of lights purchased last year needed to be used. Penny reported that she would be discarding six strings of lights that were not working. Carol recommended that new decorations for next year be purchased when decorations go on sale this year. Discussion ensued regarding what decorations should be purchased. Lighted wreaths were considered in lieu of lights on the bushes. It was finally agreed that wreaths without lights and grid lights for the bushes would suffice. Penny made a motion, seconded by Caroleen, that funds be allocated for 12 boxes of grid lights and eight wreaths, up to a maximum of $250.00 (budget category 52.00). The motion was approved by a vote of 5-0. Since only three residents decorated the entrances this year, it is hoped that more residents will participate next year, especially since the lights must be attended to throughout the month of December.
Website Signs – Barb Appel had purchased, for less than $40.00, two signs for both entrances to publicize Beacon Meadows’ new website address. Carol made a motion, seconded by Penny, that Barb be reimbursed up to $40.00 (budget category 52.00) for the two signs. The motion was approved by a vote of 5-0. Barb is doing a great job maintaining the website, so it is hoped that the signs will encourage residents to visit it.
Post Office Box – It was recommended that the Tax District have a post office box. Barb Appel volunteered to check on the cost of one.
There being no further business, Carol made a motion, seconded by Penny, that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was approved by a vote of 5-0. The meeting was adjourned by Carol at 7:50 p.m.
