Board of Trustees of the Beacon Meadows Special Dependent Tax District
13550 S. Village Dr., Tampa, Florida
Trustees Present: Carol Coon (President), Barbara Appel (Vice President), Caroleen Tillery (Treasurer), Penny Phillips (Recording Secretary), Chris Eddy (Trustee), Al Adler (Trustee)
Trustees Absent: Cheryl Bonk (Corresponding Secretary)
The meeting was called to order by Carol at 7:10 p.m.
Secretary's Report – The minutes of the May 2007 meeting were read by Trustees in advance. Chris made a motion, seconded by Barbara, to approve the minutes. The motion was approved by a vote of 6-0.
Treasurer's Report –The Statement of Revenues and Expenditures for May 2007 was distributed. Due to a computer program problem, exact figures for “cash in bank” and “available to spend” could not be provided. However, Carol reported that most major expenses for the year had been accounted for and “cash in bank” should be more than $10,000 after June bills are paid.
Old Business
Painting of Gunn Hwy. Wall – The wall project has been completed. Trustees agreed that the color selection for the wall was a good one. They were also pleased with the quality of workmanship. It was recommended that the wall be periodically pressure washed to protect the warranty. Mulligan Painting, Inc. and Michael Jahner (who pressure washed the Jackson Rd. wall) will be considered for this task.
Repair and Painting of Other Walls – Mulligan Painting, Inc. expressed an interest in painting the Casey Rd. and Jackson Rd. walls. Before painting can begin, repairs must be made. A&R Construction was responsible for repairs on the Gunn Hwy. wall after it had been hit by a vehicle. That company will be contacted for an estimate on repairs, as well as other companies.
Hurricane Kits – Carol reported that she had attempted to acquire hurricane kits offered by Hillsborough County to distribute to residents of Beacon Meadows. Unfortunately, the supply of kits has been depleted. The County offered hurricane guides as an alternative. Carol will keep in touch with the County to see if additional materials are offered.
Post Cards with Tax District Information – Penny and Barbara worked on the wording for the post cards and Barbara prepared the format. Carol made a motion, seconded by Al, that Barbara arrange to have the post cards produced and distributed to all Beacon Meadows homeowners for up to a maximum of $100.00 (budget category 51.00). The motion was approved by a vote of 6-0. Carol offered her home address as the return address on the post cards.
New Business
Beacon Meadows Entrance Signs – Barb reported that she bought paint to touch up the signs at the Gunn Hwy. entrance. Since she failed to retain the receipt for the paint, she considered the paint a donation to the Tax District.
Resources – Barbara reported that:
· There is a new website link for Hillsborough County Code Enforcement.
· Bank of America is offering community grants.
Keys for Irrigation System – Barbara asked who had the second set of keys for the irrigation system timer box on Casey Rd. since the shrubbery and grass at that entrance appeared to need water. Carol acknowledged having the keys but added that the rain earlier in the week may have helped the situation.
There being no further business, Carol made a motion, seconded by Penny, that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was approved by a vote of 6-0. The meeting was adjourned by Carol at 7:30 p.m.
