Minutes of the September 13, 2007 Meeting
Board of Trustees of the Beacon Meadows Special Dependent Tax District
13550 S. Village Dr., Tampa, Florida
Trustees Present: Carol Coon (President), Barbara Appel (Vice President), Caroleen Tillery (Treasurer), Penny Phillips (Recording Secretary), Al Adler (Trustee), Chris Eddy (Trustee)
Trustees Absent: Cheryl Bonk (Corresponding Secretary)
The meeting was called to order by Carol at 7:19 p.m.
Secretary's Report – The minutes of the August 2007 meeting were read by Trustees in advance. Barbara made a motion, seconded by Chris, to approve the minutes. The motion was approved by a vote of 6-0.
Treasurer's Report –The Statement of Revenues and Expenditures for August 2007 was distributed. Caroleen reported that the $700.00 check for lawn maintenance for August had not yet been cashed. However, Carol explained that the Tax District’s accounting system allowed for expenditures to be recorded when incurred, not when paid. Therefore, the statement was corrected to reflect a $700.00 reduction.
Cash in Bank: $9,344.76 Available to Spend: $5,045.00
Old Business
Repair and Painting of Wall – Chris reported that he is waiting for return phone calls from individuals who he contacted for estimates on repair and painting of the Jackson Rd. wall. He hopes to have these estimates for the October Board meeting.
Beacon Meadows Website Signs – Trustees continued to discuss ways that the website signs could be attached to the monuments or posted in other locations at the entrances. Barbara agreed to ask Signs USA for pieces of sign material so that Carol can test epoxy on them.
New Business
Financial Audit – The Tax District’s financial audit will commence in October. All receipts must be submitted to Caroleen as soon as possible to be included with FY 2007 expenditures.
Growth Through Wall – Chris remarked that he was concerned about shrubbery and other types of growth coming through the Gunn Hwy. wall and wondered if homeowners could be asked to cut it. Carol indicated that it may be difficult to do this. However, the Tax District’s lawn maintenance service does cut this growth on occasion.
Community Garage Sale – It was agreed that the annual Beacon Meadows garage sale will be held on October 13, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Penny reported that she had the signs from previous years and would attach them to the Board meeting signs after the October 11 meeting. Carol volunteered to advertise the event in Carrollwood News and Barbara agreed to post an advertisement on the Beacon Meadows website.
Correspondence to “Good Neighbors” – It was agreed that the owners of properties in Beacon Meadows that are well maintained should receive a letter complimenting them on their efforts and asking them to become members of the Board. There is a critical need for new members, because the Board cannot approve the budget and conduct other business of the Tax District without a sufficient number of Trustees.
There being no further business, Penny made a motion, seconded by Carol, that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was approved by a vote of 6-0. The meeting was adjourned by Carol at 8:05 p.m.
