Secretary's Report – The minutes of the June 2007 meeting were read by Trustees in advance. Al made a motion, seconded by Chris, to approve the minutes. The motion was approved by a vote of 5-0.
Treasurer's Report –The Statement of Revenues and Expenditures for June 2007 was distributed. Cash in Bank: $10,566.10 Available to Spend: $4,466.00
Old Business
Gunn Hwy. Wall – Since it was recommended at the June meeting that the wall be periodically pressure washed to protect the paint warranty, Chris reported that he attempted to contact Mulligan Painting, Inc. but did not receive a return call.
Repair and Painting of Other Walls – Before painting of the Casey Rd. and Jackson Rd. walls can begin in the fall, repairs must be made. Chris agreed to contact A&R Construction, the company responsible for repairs on the Gunn Hwy. wall after it had been hit by a vehicle. He will also ask Mulligan Painting, Inc. and Sherwin Williams for recommendations of companies that repair walls.
Post Cards with Tax District Information – Barbara reported that the post cards had been printed and mailed. Total cost of the project was $81.60. Unfortunately, they have not resulted in increased attendance of Beacon Meadows residents at the Board meeting or calls from residents to volunteer to become Trustees. Penny, who has been on the Board for about 18 years, commented that the vast majority of Beacon Meadows residents have always shown apathy when it came to getting involved in Tax District activities, and it has been a continual struggle to keep the required seven Trustee positions filled.
New Business
Beacon Meadows Website Signs – Barbara reported that the website signs she had posted at the entrances had been vandalized and were missing. Trustees were outraged by this. Discussion ensued regarding other ways to publicize the website, which is an excellent information resource for residents of Beacon Meadows. It was recommended that new website panels be made for the Board meeting signs and/or website signs be attached to the bottom of the entrance signs. Barbara will contact Signs USA, the company that made the meeting and entrance signs, for estimates.
Ideas for More Visibility – Trustees brainstormed about other ways to generate more interest by residents in attending Board meetings and in getting involved as Board members. In addition to the website signs addressed above, it was suggested that the website address be posted on the notice board at Sweetbay and that periodic newsletters be published and distributed by the Board.
Public Budget Hearing – Due to an error in advertising the June hearing, another hearing must be advertised and conducted. The rescheduled hearing will be on August 9, 2007 at 7:30 p.m., following the monthly Board meeting. A quorum of Trustees is mandatory.
There being no further business, Penny made a motion, seconded by Caroleen, that the meeting be adjourned. The motion was approved by a vote of 5-0. The meeting was adjourned by Barbara at 7:55 p.m.
